Disopyramide Phosphate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Ayahuasca interacts with.

Theoretically, ayahuasca might increase plasma concentrations of CYP3A4 substrates.
Ayahuasca contains beta-carboline alkaloids. In vitro research suggests that beta-carboline alkaloids competitively inhibit CYP3A4 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for disopyramide (Norpace). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear this medicine. Lab studies hint that the beta-carboline compounds in ayahuasca can block that same enzyme. If that happened in a real person, disopyramide could clear more slowly and build up in your blood. Since this is a heart rhythm drug with a narrow safety window, even modest extra levels matter. Too much can cause dry mouth, blurred vision, trouble urinating, low blood pressure, or actually worsen heart rhythm.

I want to be honest though: this is only a theoretical, test-tube finding, never confirmed in humans. Ayahuasca carries its own serious risks too. Please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before mixing anything.

What Is Disopyramide Used For?

Brand names: Norpace CR, Norpace

Disopyramide — available as Disopyramide Phosphate, Norpace, and Norpace CR — is indicated for the treatment of documented ventricular arrhythmias, such as sustained ventricular tachycardia (a fast, dangerous heart rhythm), that a physician judges to be life-threatening.

Because this drug can itself cause arrhythmias, it is not recommended for minor or symptom-free arrhythmias. Treatment is started in a hospital setting so the heart can be closely monitored. Antiarrhythmic drugs like disopyramide have not been shown to improve survival in patients with ventricular arrhythmias.
