Crizotinib falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Baikal Skullcap interacts with.

Theoretically, Baikal skullcap might increase levels of drugs transported by P-glycoprotein.
In vitro and animal research suggests that baicalein, oroxylin A, and wogonin, constituents of Baikal skullcap, can inhibit P-glycoprotein. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with Baikal skullcap and crizotinib (Xalkori). Your body uses a kind of cellular pump called P-glycoprotein to move crizotinib around and help clear it. In lab and animal studies, certain compounds in this herb (baicalein, wogonin, and oroxylin A) appear to slow that pump down. If that happened in people, more crizotinib could stay in your system, which might mean stronger side effects like nausea, vision changes, swelling, fatigue, or effects on your liver and heart rhythm.

The important thing to know: this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube work, not something seen in humans, so the real risk is low. Still, because crizotinib is a serious cancer drug, please run any supplement past your oncologist or pharmacist first.

About Crizotinib

What Is Crizotinib Used For?

Brand name: Xalkori

Xalkori (crizotinib) treats adult patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors test positive for ALK or ROS1 gene changes, as confirmed by an FDA-approved test.

Xalkori is also used for pediatric patients (age 1 and older) and young adults with relapsed or refractory systemic ALK-positive anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), and for adult and pediatric patients (age 1 and older) with unresectable, recurrent, or refractory ALK-positive inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT). Xalkori's safety and effectiveness in older adults with relapsed or refractory ALK-positive ALCL have not been established.
