Trimethaphan is a fast-acting blood pressure lowering medicine given through an IV, usually in a hospital to bring very high pressure down quickly during surgery or an emergency. Baikal skullcap hasn't been shown to cause problems with it in people. The concern is purely theoretical: in animal studies, one of the herb's compounds (baicalein) nudged blood pressure down a little.

If both lowered your pressure at the same time, you could in theory drop too low, leading to dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling faint. Honestly, since trimethaphan is only used under close monitoring in a controlled setting, your care team is already watching your pressure minute by minute. Still, mention any supplements you take so your doctor or pharmacist has the full picture.
