ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Aprocitentan
Aprocitentan falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Breadfruit interacts with.
Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDIURIL), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Aprocitentan (Tryvio) is a blood pressure medicine used for tough-to-control hypertension. The concern here isn't about how your body breaks the drug down. Instead, it's about the two working in the same direction. In animal studies, breadfruit leaf extracts seemed to slow the heart a bit and lower blood pressure. Stack that on top of a drug that's already lowering your pressure, and you could theoretically end up too low.
If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or faint when standing up. I'll be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based only on lab and animal work, and it applies to concentrated leaf teas or extracts, not eating breadfruit as food. Still, since you're on aprocitentan, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before trying breadfruit leaf products.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Aprocitentan page
“Aprocitentan (Tryvio) is prescribed when blood pressure stays high despite other medicines, so anything that pushes your pressure around cuts straight to why you take it. Most of the 189 ingredients here do exactly that: some add to the drop and can leave you dizzy or faint, while others, tyramine among them, push pressure back up and…”

About Breadfruit
What is Breadfruit?
- Source of nutrition and energy
- High blood pressure
- Diabetes and blood sugar support
- Inflammation and joint discomfort
- Skin conditions
Breadfruit is a starchy tropical fruit eaten as a staple food, and its leaves are used in traditional medicine for conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes. As a food it is nutritious and generally safe, but the medicinal use of leaf teas or extracts has very little human research to back it up. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using breadfruit products for a health condition.
About Aprocitentan
What Is Aprocitentan Used For?
Brand name: Tryvio
Tryvio is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults who are already taking other blood pressure medications but still don't have their blood pressure under control. It is always used in combination with other antihypertensive (blood pressure-lowering) drugs — not on its own.
Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events, including strokes and heart attacks. Tryvio has not been shown in controlled trials to directly reduce those events itself, but blood pressure control overall does.

Aprocitentan Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Aprocitentan as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Breadfruit — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
