Caffeine + Triflupromazine
Triflupromazine brand name: Vesprin.
Caffeine has a minor interaction with Triflupromazine. Theoretically, phenothiazines might increase the levels and adverse effects of caffeine.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
PHENOTHIAZINES
Why this applies to Triflupromazine
Triflupromazine falls under PHENOTHIAZINES — the group Caffeine interacts with.
Phenothiazines, including perazine, chlorpromazine, levomepromazine, and thioridazine, can reduce the metabolism of caffeine by inhibiting cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2).
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here the medicine is actually affecting the supplement, not the other way around. Triflupromazine (Vesprin) belongs to the phenothiazine family, and drugs in this group can slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which is the main pathway your body uses to clear caffeine. The thinking is that caffeine could hang around a bit longer than usual, so a regular coffee or two might feel stronger, leaving you jittery, restless, with a faster heartbeat or trouble sleeping.
I want to be straight with you though: this is a theoretical concern based on lab studies, and it's rated minor. For most folks it just means paying attention to how caffeine hits you. If you notice the jitters, easing back on coffee usually does the trick. Check with your pharmacist or doctor if you're unsure.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).
- BCase-control study.
- CConsensus.
- DAnecdotal evidence.

This page covers Caffeine only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Triflupromazine page lists 74 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Henbane (major), Indian Snakeroot (major), Rauvolfia Vomitoria (major), Scopolia (major) and Alfalfa (moderate).
By severity: 4 major · 55 moderate · 15 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Triflupromazine page
“Henbane carries the clearest danger on this page. Taken with triflupromazine (Vesprin), an older phenothiazine antipsychotic, its atropine-like alkaloids pile onto side effects the drug already produces (dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, sedation), and it is one of just four major-rated entries, alongside scopolia, Indian snaker…”

About Caffeine
What is Caffeine?
- Mental alertness and reducing fatigue
- Improving athletic performance
- Headache and migraine relief
- Boosting focus and concentration
- Weight loss aid
Caffeine is a natural stimulant found in coffee, tea, and many other plants and products. In moderate amounts it can boost alertness and reduce tiredness for most healthy adults, but too much can cause jitteriness, a racing heart, and sleep problems. Pregnant women and people with heart conditions or anxiety should be especially careful and check with a doctor or pharmacist.
