Chrysin and Nafcillin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Nafcillin and Chrysin in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Nafcillin

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Nafcillin is filed under 4 classifications — including cytochrome p450 3a4 (cyp3a4) inducers, antibiotic drugs, nephrotoxic drugs. Chrysin has documented interactions with 9 drug classes — the most serious being anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs (moderate), aromatase inhibitors (moderate) and contraceptive drugs (moderate) — and none of Nafcillin’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Nafcillin. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 918 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Nafcillin that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Chrysin’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Chrysin side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Chrysin has no side effects.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Nafcillin page

“Anyone on nafcillin (Nallpen) is usually fighting a serious staph infection, and that makes this a time to be genuinely careful with supplements. Of the 58 with a known interaction on file, the two rated major, Siberian cocklebur and asarabacca, both stress the kidneys and could compound damage while you are being treated.”

About Chrysin

What is Chrysin?

  • Bodybuilding and testosterone support
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Antioxidant support
  • Prostate health

Chrysin is a plant flavonoid sold mainly as a bodybuilding supplement claimed to raise testosterone or block estrogen, but human studies have not shown these benefits, largely because the body absorbs very little of it. Evidence for its other proposed uses is mostly limited to laboratory and animal research, so its real-world value is unclear. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it.

Flavonoid extracted from plants such as passionflower and from honey and propolis · Capsules, tablets, powders, topical gels

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Chrysin is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Chrysin record says about it on its own.

Chrysin: dosing

There is no well-established or proven dose for chrysin. Amounts in commercial products vary widely, and because so little is absorbed by the body, the right dose for any benefit is unknown. If you choose to try it, follow the directions on the product label and do not exceed the recommended amount. A pharmacist can help you review the product and decide whether it makes sense for you.

About Nafcillin Injection

What Is Nafcillin Injection Used For?

Brand name: Nallpen

NAFCILLIN Injection is used to treat infections caused by staphylococci — specifically strains that produce an enzyme called penicillinase, which makes them resistant to regular penicillin. Susceptibility testing is performed to confirm the bacteria will respond to nafcillin before or shortly after starting treatment.

Nafcillin may also be started right away when a resistant staph infection is strongly suspected, even before test results are available. It should not be used for infections caused by bacteria that would respond to standard penicillin G, or for infections caused by non-staph organisms.

Most-Reported Side Effects for Nafcillin
