Quetiapine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Cinchona interacts with.

Theoretically, taking cinchona might inhibit cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) and increase levels of drugs metabolized by this enzyme.
Quinidine, a constituent of cinchona, inhibits CYP2D6-mediated metabolism in humans.

Here's the gist with cinchona and quetiapine (Seroquel). Cinchona bark contains quinidine, which can block a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. The thinking is that if that enzyme slows down, drugs handled by it could build up in your body a bit more than usual.

The good news is this is theoretical, based on how the chemicals behave rather than real-world reports. Also, quetiapine is mainly cleared by a different enzyme (CYP3A4), so CYP2D6 plays only a minor role for it. Still, if levels did rise, you might feel more drowsy, dizzy, or lightheaded when standing. Cinchona itself can affect the heart, so I'd run this by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them rather than starting or stopping anything on your own.

Theoretically, taking cinchona with other QT interval-prolonging drugs might cause an additive effect and increase the risk of ventricular arrhythmias.
Quinidine and quinine, which are constituents of cinchona, prolong the QT interval.

Here's the gist with quetiapine (Seroquel) and cinchona bark. Quetiapine can slightly stretch out a part of your heartbeat called the QT interval. Cinchona bark contains quinine and quinidine, which can do the same thing. Put the two together and that effect may add up, which in rare cases could trigger an abnormal heart rhythm. This isn't about cinchona changing how quetiapine is broken down, it's about the two pushing in the same direction on your heart.

I'll be honest, this concern is theoretical and based on how these compounds work, not on strong real-world reports. Still, cinchona supplements aren't standardized and can be risky on their own. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you have heart issues, low potassium or magnesium, or take other QT-affecting drugs.

Cinchona bark is the natural source of quinine and has been used for centuries to treat malaria and fever, but the bark itself is not standardized and can be unpredictable and risky. What Is Quetiapine Used For?

Brand names: Seroquel, Dopaquel

Quetiapine treats schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in adults and certain age groups of children and adolescents. For bipolar disorder, it is approved for manic episodes (both as a stand-alone treatment and alongside lithium or divalproex) and for depressive episodes.

The extended-release form of quetiapine is also approved as add-on therapy for major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults who are already taking an antidepressant. The regular tablet form is not approved for this use.
