Abiraterone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Corydalis Yanhusuo interacts with.

Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might increase serum levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. In vitro research and preliminary clinical research show that berberine moderately inhibits CYP3A4. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also inhibit CYP3A4.

Here's the gist for your prostate cancer medicine, abiraterone (Zytiga). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear this drug from your body. Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine, which lab and early human studies suggest can slow down that same enzyme. If CYP3A4 is working slower, more abiraterone could linger in your blood, which may nudge up side effects like fatigue, swelling in the legs, higher blood pressure, low potassium, or extra strain on the liver.

I want to be honest though: this concern is theoretical, based mostly on how berberine behaves, not on real cases with abiraterone. Still, since cancer therapy is serious, please don't start corydalis without first checking with your oncology team or pharmacist.

About Abiraterone

What Is Abiraterone Used For?

Abiraterone acetate tablets are used to treat two types of advanced prostate cancer: metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC — cancer that has spread and keeps growing despite low testosterone levels) and metastatic high-risk castration-sensitive prostate cancer (CSPC — cancer that has spread but still responds to hormone-lowering treatment). It is always taken together with a corticosteroid — most products pair with prednisone, while Yonsa is specifically indicated with methylprednisolone.

All products — including Abiraterone, Abiraterone Acetate, Abirtega, Yonsa, and Zytiga — are taken by mouth as a tablet. Yonsa is approved only for metastatic CRPC, while the other products (Abiraterone, Abiraterone Acetate, Abirtega, and Zytiga) are approved for both metastatic CRPC and metastatic high-risk CSPC.
