Here's the part that matters in your cough product: the dextromethorphan. Your body normally clears it using a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Corydalis may slow that enzyme down, so the dextromethorphan could hang around longer and build up. In plain terms, you might feel more of its effects, things like drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling a bit foggy or off-balance.

The acetaminophen (Tylenol) part isn't really affected by this, so that's not the concern here. I'll be honest, this interaction is theoretical and based mostly on lab work, not solid human studies, so it may never cause you a noticeable problem. Still, before you pair them, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor, especially if you take other medicines that make you sleepy.

Here's the gist for your Tylenol Cough product: the dextromethorphan part is partly handled by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Corydalis (because it contains berberine) may gently slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let a little more dextromethorphan linger in your body, which might mean more of its usual effects like drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling foggy. The acetaminophen portion isn't really cleared this way, so it's mostly the cough-suppressant side we're watching.

One honest caveat: this is theoretical, based on lab work rather than solid human studies, so it may never cause you a noticeable problem. Still, since this is an occasional-use cough medicine, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist before pairing the two.

Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. Preliminary clinical research shows that berberine can inhibit cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) activity and reduce the metabolism of dextromethorphan. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo may also inhibit the metabolism of dextromethorphan.
