Out of the four ingredients in NyQuil, the one that matters most here is dextromethorphan (the cough suppressant). Your body relies on an enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear it. Corydalis yanhusuo may gently block that enzyme, so in theory dextromethorphan could build up a bit more than usual. That might mean stronger drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling foggy or unsteady.
I want to be honest, though: this is based on lab work and the herb's chemistry, not solid human studies, so it's more of a theoretical concern than a proven one. NyQuil already makes most people sleepy thanks to the doxylamine, so any added effect may be hard to notice. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist before pairing them, especially if you'll be driving.

If you're reaching for NyQuil while taking Corydalis yanhusuo, here's the gist. This herb may contain berberine, which can mildly slow down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Some of the cold-medicine ingredients lean on that same pathway, especially the dextromethorphan (the cough suppressant). In theory, slowing that enzyme could let a little more of the drug linger in your system, nudging up effects like drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling foggy. Keep in mind the doxylamine in NyQuil is already a sedating antihistamine, so any added sleepiness can stack.
Honestly, this concern is theoretical and based mostly on lab work, not strong human studies, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you use Corydalis regularly, give your pharmacist a quick heads-up before pairing the two.

3 of 3Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. Preliminary clinical research shows that berberine can inhibit cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) activity and reduce the metabolism of dextromethorphan. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo may also inhibit the metabolism of dextromethorphan.

NyQuil contains four ingredients, but the one that matters here is the cough suppressant dextromethorphan. Your body clears it mainly through a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Corydalis yanhusuo contains compounds (like berberine) that may slow this enzyme down, which in theory lets dextromethorphan build up a bit higher than usual.
If that happens, you might feel more of its side effects, things like drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, or a foggy, sleepy feeling. Keep in mind NyQuil already has doxylamine in it, which makes you sleepy on its own, so the combo could feel extra drowsy. This concern is theoretical, based on how these chemicals behave rather than real patient reports. Still, it is worth running past your pharmacist before pairing them.
