Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence show that berberine can inhibit CYP2D6. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also inhibit CYP2D6.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version for Symbicort: one of its two ingredients, formoterol, is partly handled by a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Corydalis (and the berberine it contains) may slow that enzyme down a bit. In theory, that could let a little more formoterol linger in your body, which might nudge up the usual side effects you'd feel from the long-acting reliever part, things like a faster heartbeat, jitteriness, shakiness, or a headache.
I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's theoretical, based on lab and pharmacology reasoning rather than real patient reports. The budesonide (steroid) piece isn't the concern here. Most people won't notice anything, but if you start Corydalis, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye out for a racing or pounding heart.

Here's the gist for your Symbicort, which pairs budesonide (an inhaled steroid) with formoterol (a long-acting breathing opener). The idea here is that Corydalis may slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. If your body clears these medicines a little more slowly, slightly more could linger in your system. That could mean a touch more of the usual effects, like a faster or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness, or shakiness from the formoterol, and over time slightly more steroid exposure.
