Here's the thing to know about pairing this herb with butorphanol (Stadol). Butorphanol is a strong opioid-type pain medicine that already slows down the brain, so it can make you drowsy, dizzy, foggy, or slow your breathing. Corydalis yanhusuo contains compounds that may have their own calming, sedating effect on the nervous system. Stacking the two together could leave you more sedated than you'd expect.

I'll be honest with you, though: this concern is theoretical, based mostly on lab and animal research rather than real human studies, so we don't truly know how big a deal it is. Still, butorphanol is potent on its own, so play it safe and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Butorphanol Injection Used For?

Brand name: Stadol

Butorphanol Tartrate Injection is used to manage pain severe enough to require an opioid when other treatments are not adequate. It is also used as a preoperative or pre-anesthetic medication and as a supplement to balanced anesthesia during surgical procedures.

Butorphanol Tartrate Injection is also indicated for relief of pain during labor in patients at full term in early labor. Because of serious risks including addiction, misuse, and overdose, it is reserved for situations where alternative treatments are ineffective or not tolerated.
