Here's the simple version: chloral hydrate is a sedative that already slows down your brain and body to help you sleep. Corydalis yanhusuo may have its own calming, sleepy effects on the nervous system. Put the two together and they could add up, leaving you more drowsy than you expected.

With chloral hydrate that might look like extra grogginess, dizziness, slowed breathing, trouble waking up, or feeling foggy and unsteady the next day. I want to be honest, though: this concern comes from laboratory and animal research, not solid human studies, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, because both can sedate you, please don't combine them without first checking with your pharmacist or doctor.
