Here's the gist with this combo. Your cough and cold product contains dextromethorphan and chlorpheniramine, and both lean on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to be cleared from your body. Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine, which lab studies suggest may slow that same enzyme down. If that happens, these two ingredients could build up a bit and hit harder than expected.

In real terms, that might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, and with extra dextromethorphan, possible confusion or a floaty, off feeling. Keep in mind this is theoretical, drawn from lab work rather than solid human studies, so it may not amount to much. Still, since both can make you sleepy on their own, check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them.

Here's the gist with this cough and cold combo. Corydalis may contain berberine, which can mildly slow down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Your body uses that enzyme (along with others) to clear out dextromethorphan, the cough suppressant in this product. If the herb slows that breakdown, more of the medicine could linger, which might mean extra drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling foggy. Chlorpheniramine, the antihistamine, is already sedating, so the two together could add to that sleepy feeling.

Honestly, this concern is theoretical and based mostly on lab work, not strong human studies, so it isn't likely to cause serious problems. Still, since both can make you drowsy, it's worth a quick check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. Preliminary clinical research shows that berberine can inhibit cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) activity and reduce the metabolism of dextromethorphan. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo may also inhibit the metabolism of dextromethorphan.
