Here's the gist for your birth control pill (the desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol combo). Corydalis may contain berberine, which lab and early human research suggests can gently slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. Since the hormones in your pill are partly handled by similar liver pathways, the theory is that levels could nudge a little higher rather than lower.

The good news is this is theoretical only, based on how things work in a test tube, not proven in real patients. If anything shifted, you might notice more typical estrogen-related effects like nausea, breast tenderness, bloating, or breakthrough spotting. Nothing here suggests your pill would stop working. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two so you're using both safely.

Your birth control pill (the desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol combination) is cleared from your body partly by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Corydalis yanhusuo contains compounds, including berberine, that may gently slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let a little more of the hormones build up in your blood. The most likely real-world result would be more of the usual estrogen-type side effects, such as nausea, breast tenderness, bloating, headaches, or some spotting.

Here's the honest part: this interaction is only theoretical, based on lab work and how the herb behaves, not on solid human studies. It's also rated moderate, not dangerous. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but since this affects a medication you rely on, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
