In this combo cold product, the piece that matters most here is the dextromethorphan (the cough suppressant). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to break it down. Corydalis may slow that enzyme down a bit, so the dextromethorphan could clear more slowly and build up. That could mean more drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, or feeling off-balance than usual.

Keep in mind this is a theoretical concern based on lab work and how these compounds behave, not proven in real patients, so it may never cause a noticeable problem. Here's the basic idea with this cough-and-cold combo. Corydalis yanhusuo may gently slow down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and your body uses that pathway to help clear part of this product (the dextromethorphan piece leans more on a different enzyme, but CYP3A4 plays a supporting role). If that pathway slows, a bit more of the medicine can hang around than usual.

In plain terms, you might notice the typical effects feeling stronger, things like drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, blurry vision, or a faster or pounding heartbeat from the phenylephrine. Keep in mind this is a theoretical, lab-based concern, not something proven in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist before combining them.

Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. Preliminary clinical research shows that berberine can inhibit cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) activity and reduce the metabolism of dextromethorphan. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo may also inhibit the metabolism of dextromethorphan.
