Here's the situation with these two together. Your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear donepezil out of your system. Corydalis contains plant compounds (including berberine) that may slow that enzyme down. If donepezil is cleared more slowly, it can build up a bit, and that could mean stronger effects from the drug.

With donepezil, that usually shows up as more of its typical side effects: nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite, stomach cramps, vivid dreams, dizziness, or a slower heart rate. I want to be honest though, this concern is theoretical, based on lab findings rather than real patient cases, so it may never cause a problem. Still, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and don't change your donepezil on your own.

Here's the gist: your body relies partly on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down donepezil. Corydalis yanhusuo contains compounds (including berberine) that may slow that same enzyme down. If clearance slows, donepezil could build up a bit more than usual in your system.

Donepezil isn't a prodrug, so more of it in the blood generally means stronger effects and more side effects. With donepezil, that typically looks like nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite, vivid dreams, dizziness, or a slower heart rate. To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based mostly on lab work, not strong human studies, so it may never cause a problem. Still, before combining them, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor.
