Here's the gist for your Glucovance, which combines glyburide and metformin. The glyburide half is cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. Corydalis may contain berberine, which lab research hints can slow that enzyme down. If it does, glyburide could linger longer in your body and push your blood sugar lower than expected.

In real life that would look like low blood sugar: shakiness, sweating, dizziness, hunger, or feeling confused. Keep in mind this is a theoretical concern based on how these compounds behave in the lab, not proven in people taking this combo. Still, since blood sugar is nothing to gamble with, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before adding Corydalis.

Glucovance combines two blood sugar lowering medicines: glyburide, which pushes your body to release more insulin, and metformin, which helps your body use insulin better. Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine, a compound that some studies suggest can lower blood sugar on its own. So the worry here is simple addition: if the herb nudges your sugar down while your medicine is already doing the same, your levels could dip too low.

Low blood sugar can cause shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, or feeling faint. Keep in mind this concern is theoretical, based on how these ingredients work rather than solid human studies on the combination. Still, since glyburide can already cause lows, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding this herb, and keep an eye on your readings.

Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might increase the therapeutic and adverse effects of metformin.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. In vitro and animal studies show that berberine can increase the systemic exposure and half-life of metformin, potentially increasing metformin's effects and side effects. This interaction seems to be most apparent when berberine is administered 2 hours prior to metformin. Taking berberine and metformin at the same time does not appear to increase systemic exposure to metformin. It is unclear if Corydalis yanhusuo might have this same effect.

Here's the gist with Glucovance (which combines glyburide and metformin) and Corydalis yanhusuo. This herb contains a compound called berberine, and in lab and animal studies berberine appeared to slow how the body clears metformin, letting more of it hang around. In theory that could nudge up both the benefit and the side effects of your medication. With metformin, that might mean more stomach upset, nausea, or diarrhea. The glyburide piece can lower blood sugar on its own, so watch for shakiness, sweating, or feeling lightheaded.

I want to be honest though: this is theoretical, based on pharmacology rather than solid human studies, and we don't even know if Corydalis acts the same way berberine does. Don't change anything on your own. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before combining them.
