Here's the gist: Ingrezza (valbenazine) already tends to make some people feel sleepy or a little foggy, since it works on brain chemicals involved in movement. Corydalis yanhusuo contains natural compounds that, in lab and animal studies, seem to have a calming, sedative-like effect on the nervous system. Put the two together and the worry is simply that the drowsiness could stack up. You might feel more tired, dizzy, or off-balance than usual.

I want to be honest that this is a theoretical concern based on how these things behave, not on solid human studies, so I wouldn't panic. Valbenazine isn't a prodrug, so the herb isn't expected to change how well it treats your tardive dyskinesia. Still, run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you drive.

Here's the simple version. Your body partly relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to break down valbenazine (Ingrezza). Corydalis yanhusuo may contain compounds, like berberine, that can slow that enzyme down. If the enzyme works slower, less of the drug gets cleared, so levels could drift higher than expected.

For Ingrezza, more drug in the system can mean more of its typical side effects, things like sleepiness, balance or movement problems, and in some people changes in heart rhythm (QT prolongation). I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on lab reasoning, not real-world reports, and concentrated supplement doses matter more than tiny amounts. Here's the gist if you take Ingrezza (valbenazine) for tardive dyskinesia and are thinking about Corydalis. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break valbenazine down. What Is Valbenazine Used For?

Brand name: Ingrezza

Valbenazine — sold as Ingrezza and INGREZZA Sprinkle — is approved for two conditions in adults. The first is tardive dyskinesia, a movement disorder that causes uncontrolled, repetitive facial or body movements, often brought on by long-term use of certain psychiatric medications. The second is chorea associated with Huntington's disease, which refers to the involuntary, dance-like jerking movements that are a hallmark of that condition.

Both Ingrezza and INGREZZA Sprinkle are approved for both of these uses.
