Rabeprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Dhea interacts with.

Theoretically, DHEA might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Some preliminary evidence shows that DHEA may inhibit CYP3A4; however, the clinical significance of this potential interaction is not known.

Here's the basic idea with DHEA and rabeprazole (Pariet). Rabeprazole is partly cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. There's some early, anecdotal hint that DHEA might slow that enzyme down a little. If that happened, rabeprazole could build up slightly and hang around longer, which might mean a bit more of its effects or side effects like headache, nausea, or mild stomach upset.

That said, I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It's theoretical, and rabeprazole is generally a forgiving medication, so a small bump usually wouldn't cause trouble. Rabeprazole is not a prodrug, so we don't expect it to lose effectiveness here. Still, it's worth mentioning DHEA to your pharmacist or doctor, since DHEA is a hormone with its own concerns.

About Rabeprazole

What Is Rabeprazole Used For?

Brand name: Pariet

Rabeprazole delayed-release tablets treat a range of acid-related conditions in adults, including healing and maintenance of erosive or ulcerative GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), symptomatic GERD, duodenal ulcers, and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. They are also used alongside antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin) to eradicate H. pylori bacteria and reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer coming back.

In adolescents 12 years and older, rabeprazole delayed-release tablets are approved for short-term treatment of symptomatic GERD. Both AcipHex and Rabeprazole Sodium delayed-release tablets share this indication set for adults and adolescents 12 and older.
