Evening primrose oil contains gamma linolenic acid (GLA). There is preliminary clinical evidence that GLA can reduce platelet aggregation and prolong bleeding time.

Here's the gist for Betrixaban (Bevyxxa), which is a blood thinner that blocks clotting factor Xa. Evening primrose oil contains GLA, and there's some early lab and clinical hints that GLA can make platelets a little less sticky and slightly lengthen bleeding time. On its own that's usually minor, but stacked on top of a drug already designed to slow clotting, the two could nudge your bleeding risk up a bit.

I want to be honest about the strength here: this concern is theoretical, based on how these things work, not on solid studies. So don't panic. Still, keep an eye out for easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or anything that won't stop. Before adding evening primrose, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

Evening primrose oil is a seed oil rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid, that is popularly used for skin conditions, PMS, and breast pain.
