Theoretically, evening primrose oil may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Evening primrose oil contains gamma linolenic acid (GLA). There is preliminary clinical evidence that GLA can reduce platelet aggregation and prolong bleeding time.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pairing. Piroxicam (Feldene) is an NSAID, and one of its known quirks is that it can make your blood a little slower to clot, which is why it occasionally causes stomach irritation, easy bruising, or bleeding. Evening primrose oil contains GLA, and there's early, mostly theoretical evidence that GLA may make platelets a bit less sticky too. So in theory, taking them together could nudge your bleeding risk a little higher than the piroxicam alone.

I don't want to overstate this. The evidence is weak and based on how these things work, not on strong studies. Still, if you notice unusual bruising, nosebleeds, dark stools, or bleeding that won't stop, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Theoretically, evening primrose may increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2C9 substrates.
In vitro research shows that linoleic acid, a constituent of evening primrose oil, inhibits CYP2C9.

Here's the simple version: your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP2C9 to clear piroxicam out of your system. In lab dishes, a fatty acid found in evening primrose oil appears to slow that enzyme down a little. If that happens in real life, piroxicam could hang around longer than usual, which might nudge up its usual side effects, things like stomach upset, heartburn, or a higher chance of stomach irritation or bleeding.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. This is a theoretical concern based only on test-tube research, and it's rated as a minor, possible interaction. Most people taking both won't notice anything. Still, since piroxicam is already one of the stronger NSAIDs for the stomach, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before you start evening primrose.
