Donepezil falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Evodia interacts with.

Theoretically, evodia might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that evodia extract inhibits hepatic CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear donepezil out of your system. In lab studies, evodia seems to slow that enzyme down. If that same thing happened in people, donepezil could clear more slowly and build up a bit, which might mean stronger effects and more of its usual side effects, like nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite, dizziness, a slow heartbeat, or trouble sleeping.

Here's the reassuring part: this concern comes only from test-tube research, and it has not been confirmed in humans, so it stays theoretical for now. Still, since donepezil already tends to cause stomach and heart-rate effects, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding evodia.
