Oestrogen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Evodia interacts with.

Evodia might reduce the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates through induction of CYP1A2.
Evodia extract and the evodia constituent rutaecarpine induce hepatic CYP1A2 enzyme activity. Evodia decreases levels of theophylline and caffeine, CYP1A2 substrates, by about 70% in animal models.

Here's the gist: your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to help process estrogen. Evodia appears to speed that enzyme up (this is called induction), at least in lab and animal studies. If it works the same way in people, it could clear estrogen out faster and leave less of it in your system.

For estrogen, that might mean it works less well. Depending on why you take it, you could notice things like hot flashes creeping back, night sweats, or vaginal dryness, and for birth control it could in theory lower how reliable it is. I want to be honest though: this is based on test tube and animal data, not solid human studies, so it's a maybe, not a sure thing. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them.

Theoretically, CYP3A4 inhibitors might increase the levels and clinical effects of evodia.
Animal research shows that concomitant administration of ketoconazole, a known CYP3A4 inhibitor, with the alkaloid constituents of evodia significantly increases the area under the curve (AUC), maximum concentration (Cmax), and half-life of these constituents.

Here's the key thing to understand about this pairing: the interaction runs the opposite way from what you might expect. Estrogen acts as a mild blocker of a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, which happens to be one of the enzymes that helps clear evodia's active compounds from your body. So in theory, estrogen could let evodia build up a bit more, not the other way around. This is what animal studies suggested when a stronger CYP3A4 blocker was used alongside evodia.

Honestly, this is mostly theoretical. The evidence comes only from lab and animal research, and estrogen is a fairly weak blocker, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since evodia isn't well studied in people, it's worth running it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

Here's the thing to know about this one: the concern runs from your estrogen toward the Evodia, not the other way around. Estrogen can act as a mild blocker of a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, and that same enzyme breaks down one of Evodia's active compounds (rutaecarpine). So in theory, taking them together could let the Evodia build up a bit more in your system, which might make its effects or side effects stronger.

I want to be straight with you though: this is based only on lab and animal research, not real people, so it's a theoretical worry rather than something we see happen. Your estrogen itself shouldn't change. Since Evodia isn't well studied in humans, it's worth running it past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Here's the gist for estrogen. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break estrogen down and clear it from your body. In test-tube studies, evodia seems to slow that same enzyme. If that happened in people, your body might clear estrogen a little more slowly, so more of it could hang around. In theory, that could mean stronger estrogen effects or more of the usual side effects, like breast tenderness, bloating, nausea, or headaches.

I want to be honest though: this is only seen in lab research, never confirmed in actual humans, so it may amount to nothing. It's still worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing evodia with your estrogen. Please don't change anything on your own.
