Eticovo (etanercept) works by calming down an overactive immune system. It blocks a messenger called TNF, which helps reduce the inflammation behind conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and ankylosing spondylitis. In other words, you actually want part of your immune response turned down for this medicine to do its job.

Here is the concern: fermented wheat germ extract has been shown in animal and lab studies to gently rev up immune activity. In theory, that could push against what etanercept is trying to accomplish, possibly leading to more joint pain, stiffness, or flare-ups. I want to be honest though, this is only a theoretical worry based on how things work, not proven in people. Still, since both affect the immune system, it is worth running it by your rheumatologist or pharmacist first.
