Here's the idea behind this pairing. Prednisolone is a steroid that works partly by calming down an overactive immune system, which is exactly what you want when treating things like severe arthritis, asthma flares, or preventing transplant rejection. Fermented wheat germ extract, on the other hand, has shown in animal and lab studies that it might nudge the immune system to be more active. So in theory, the two could be working against each other, with the supplement possibly blunting some of the immune-calming benefit you're counting on from prednisolone.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. This is theoretical, based on pharmacology and animal data, not on solid human studies. Still, if you're taking prednisolone for something serious, especially after a transplant, please check with your oncologist, pharmacist, or doctor before adding this supplement rather than starting it on your own.

Prednisolone is prescribed for many different conditions where inflammation or an overactive immune system is causing harm. These range from severe allergic reactions and asthma to certain skin diseases, blood disorders, eye problems, and some cancers.

It is also used to support the body when the adrenal glands aren't making enough of their own steroids, and to manage flares of conditions like ulcerative colitis, multiple sclerosis, and nephrotic syndrome (a kidney condition causing protein loss in the urine).
