Here's the gist with almotriptan (Axert): it's a migraine medicine that works on serotonin pathways in your body. Fermented wheat germ extract has only been shown in animal studies to nudge brain serotonin levels upward. The worry is that stacking two things that both raise serotonin activity could, in theory, add up and raise the small risk of too much serotonin.

To be clear, this is a theoretical concern based on lab and animal data, not real-world reports, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, it's worth knowing the warning signs of serotonin excess: agitation, fast heartbeat, sweating, shivering, muscle twitching, or feeling confused. If you take both and notice anything like that, reach out to your pharmacist or doctor before continuing.

About Almotriptan

What Is Almotriptan Used For?

Brand names: Axert, Almogran

Almotriptan tablets are used to treat migraine headache attacks — with or without aura — as they happen. They are not for preventing migraines before they start.

In adults, almotriptan tablets treat acute migraine attacks. In adolescents ages 12 to 17, almotriptan tablets treat acute migraine headache pain in those who typically have attacks lasting 4 hours or more when untreated. Note that in adolescents, the effect on migraine-related symptoms such as nausea and light sensitivity was not established in clinical trials. Almotriptan is not indicated for cluster headache or for hemiplegic or basilar migraine.
