Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
STIMULANT DRUGS
Why this applies to Methylphenidate
Methylphenidate falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Fever Bark interacts with.
Reserpine, a constituent of fever bark, might increase or decrease effects of sympathomimetics. Also, yohimbine, another constituent of fever bark, has sympathomimetic effects and increases blood pressure in a dose-dependent manner. It is not known if this would occur with fever bark.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the thing with combining fever bark and your methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta, and similar brands). Methylphenidate is already a stimulant that nudges up your heart rate and blood pressure and keeps you alert. Fever bark contains a mix of plant alkaloids, and they pull in different directions. The yohimbine-like compounds tend to raise blood pressure and add stimulation, while the reserpine-like compounds can blunt those same nerve signals. So in theory you could end up either over-stimulated (racing heart, jitters, higher blood pressure, trouble sleeping) or with your medication working less well.
Honestly, this is based on the plant's known chemicals, not on real studies of fever bark with this drug, so it's mostly theoretical. Still, I'd skip the fever bark and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Methylphenidate page
“Methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta, Metadate) is itself a stimulant, and that one fact shapes most of this list. The largest cluster of interacting supplements adds a second stimulant on top of it, from ephedra and its relatives to everyday caffeine sources like coffee and green tea, which can push heart rate and blood pressure higher…”

About Fever Bark
What is Fever Bark?
- Fever
- Diarrhea
- Malaria (traditional)
- Digestive complaints
- Bitter tonic
Fever bark is the bark of the Australian tree Alstonia constricta, used in traditional medicine for fever, diarrhea, and infections. There is very little reliable human research to support these uses, and the bark contains potent alkaloids that may cause serious side effects. It is best avoided unless used under direct medical supervision.
About Methylphenidate
What Is Methylphenidate Used For?
Brand names: Ritalin, Ritalin-SR, Concerta, Methylin, Metadate, Metadate CD, Methylin ER, Ritalin LA, Aptensio XR, Quillivant Xr, Cotempla XR-ODT, Jornay PM, Relexxii
Methylphenidate treats ADHD across many oral and patch products. Age ranges differ by product. Some are approved for children 6 and older, some for children and teens, and some also for adults up to age 65.
Some immediate-release and certain extended-release methylphenidate tablets are also used for narcolepsy (a sleep disorder with sudden, overwhelming sleepiness). Methylphenidate oral solution and chewable tablets are described for attention deficit disorders in children, as part of a total treatment program that includes psychological, educational and social support. Not every product is approved for every use or age group.
