MONOAMINE OXIDASE INHIBITORS (MAOIs)
Why this applies to Rasagiline
Rasagiline falls under MONOAMINE OXIDASE INHIBITORS (MAOIs) — the group Fever Bark interacts with.
Yohimbine, a constituent of fever bark, has MAO inhibitory effects. At high doses, yohimbine is a non-selective inhibitor of MAO. It is not known if this would occur with fever bark.
Well-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
Here's the concern with pairing fever bark and rasagiline (Azilect). Rasagiline already works by blocking an enzyme called monoamine oxidase, which lets certain brain chemicals build up. Fever bark contains alkaloids, including a yohimbine-like compound, that may have their own MAO-blocking action. Stacking two things that do the same job can push those effects too far.
The worry is mainly with your blood pressure. Too much of this combined activity can trigger a dangerous spike (severe headache, pounding heart, sweating, chest pain), and there's also a small risk of too much serotonin. I'll be honest: this is based on how the chemicals should behave, not on solid human studies, so it's more theoretical. Still, given that both touch MAO, please check with your doctor or pharmacist before using fever bark.

Fever bark is the bark of the Australian tree Alstonia constricta, used in traditional medicine for fever, diarrhea, and infections. There is very little reliable human research to support these uses, and the bark contains potent alkaloids that may cause serious side effects. It is best avoided unless used under direct medical supervision.

What Is Rasagiline Used For?
Brand name: Azilect
Rasagiline tablets — sold as Azilect, Rasagiline, and Rasagiline mesylate — are approved to treat Parkinson's disease (PD). They can be used on their own (monotherapy) or added to other Parkinson's medications, including levodopa.
When used alongside levodopa, rasagiline helps manage Parkinson's symptoms that are not fully controlled by levodopa alone. Your doctor may adjust your levodopa dose when the two are combined.
