Fever Bark + Tirofiban
Tirofiban brand name: Aggrastat.
Fever Bark has a minor interaction with Tirofiban. Theoretically, combining fever bark with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs might have additive effects; however, this has not been reported in clinical research.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Tirofiban
Tirofiban falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Fever Bark interacts with.
Research in healthy adults shows that taking yohimbine, a constituent of fever bark, in doses of 8 mg or more, seems to inhibit platelet aggregation in vitro by binding to the alpha-2 adrenoceptor. The effects of fever bark itself are unclear.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the quick version: Tirofiban (Aggrastat) is already a strong IV blood thinner that stops your platelets from clumping. It's given in the hospital, usually during heart procedures, while a team watches you closely. Fever bark contains a compound called yohimbine that may, on its own, make platelets a little less sticky too. So in theory, putting the two together could nudge your bleeding risk slightly higher.
I want to be honest about how thin the evidence is here. This concern comes from lab studies, not from real patients, and the effect of fever bark itself isn't well understood. Since tirofiban is only used in a monitored hospital setting, this combo isn't likely to come up. Still, always tell your care team about every supplement you take, including fever bark.

Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Tirofiban page
“Danshen, an herb taken for heart and circulation problems, tops my concerns for anyone receiving tirofiban (Aggrastat). Tirofiban is an intravenous antiplatelet drug used during heart attacks and cardiac procedures to keep platelets from clumping, so a supplement that also thins the blood compounds the one danger that matters here, ser…”

About Fever Bark
What is Fever Bark?
- Fever
- Diarrhea
- Malaria (traditional)
- Digestive complaints
- Bitter tonic
Fever bark is the bark of the Australian tree Alstonia constricta, used in traditional medicine for fever, diarrhea, and infections. There is very little reliable human research to support these uses, and the bark contains potent alkaloids that may cause serious side effects. It is best avoided unless used under direct medical supervision.
About Tirofiban
What Is Tirofiban Used For?
Brand name: Aggrastat
Tirofiban is used to reduce the rate of thrombotic cardiovascular events in people with non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS). That means a combined outcome of death, heart attack (myocardial infarction), or ongoing heart blood-flow problems that need another cardiac procedure.
The same use applies to Aggrastat and to the tirofiban hydrochloride injection products.
