Goji + Doxorubicin
Doxorubicin brand names: Doxil, Adriamycin, Rubex, Caelyx, Myocet.
Goji has a moderate interaction with Doxorubicin. Theoretically, goji berry might inhibit CYP3A4 and reduce metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Doxorubicin
Doxorubicin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Goji interacts with.
In vitro research shows that goji berry juice inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP3A4 substrates. However, this has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the basic idea with goji and your doxorubicin (Adriamycin, Doxil). Your body partly relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break down and clear this chemo drug. Lab studies suggest goji berry, especially in concentrated juice or supplement form, may slow that enzyme down a bit. In theory, that could let doxorubicin build up a little higher than expected, which might mean more of its usual side effects like nausea, mouth sores, low blood counts, hair loss, or added strain on the heart.
I want to be honest with you though: this is only seen in test-tube research, not in real patients, so we don't actually know if it matters in people. Since chemo dosing is so precise, please don't add goji supplements without first checking with your oncologist or pharmacist. A few berries as food are far less concerning than concentrated extracts.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Doxorubicin page
“Doxorubicin (Adriamycin, Doxil) is a chemotherapy drug, and with chemotherapy there is little room for a drug level that drifts up or down, so this list deserves genuine care. Of the 139 supplements and foods on file, only two carry a major rating, but they are common ones: grapefruit, which can raise levels of drugs processed the way…”

About Goji
What is Goji?
- General antioxidant support
- Eye health
- Immune support
- Anti-aging and well-being
- Blood sugar support
Goji berries are a nutritious fruit rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and plant polysaccharides, and they are safe for most people as a food. While they are popular for eye health, immune support, and general wellness, strong human evidence for most health claims is limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated goji supplements, especially if you take medications or are pregnant.
About Doxorubicin
What Is Doxorubicin Used For?
Brand names: Doxil, Adriamycin, Rubex, Caelyx, Myocet
Doxorubicin is used to treat a wide range of cancers. It is given as part of combination chemotherapy for women with breast cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes after surgery, and it is used for many other cancers — from blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma to solid tumors like bone and soft tissue sarcomas.
It is considered a broad-spectrum cancer fighter, meaning it is active against many different tumor types. It is almost always given alongside other chemotherapy drugs rather than on its own.

Doxorubicin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Doxorubicin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Goji — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
