Goji + Empagliflozin
Empagliflozin brand name: Jardiance.
Goji has a minor interaction with Empagliflozin. Theoretically, concomitant use of goji fruit polysaccharides or goji root bark with antidiabetes drugs might have additive effects.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Empagliflozin
Empagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Goji interacts with.
Animal and in vitro research show that goji root bark and fruit polysaccharides might have hypoglycemic effects. However, clinical research has only shown that taking goji fruit polysaccharides with or without antidiabetes drugs modestly reduces postprandial glucose when compared with control, with no reports of hypoglycemia.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: goji berries, especially in concentrated supplement form, may gently nudge your blood sugar a little lower on their own. Since empagliflozin (Jardiance) already works to bring blood sugar down by flushing extra sugar out through your urine, pairing the two could add up to a slightly bigger blood-sugar-lowering effect.
The good news is that this is a minor, mostly theoretical concern. The human studies so far showed only a modest dip in after-meal sugar and no reports of true low blood sugar. Eating goji as a food is very unlikely to cause trouble. If you take a concentrated goji supplement, just keep an eye out for signs like shakiness, sweating, or dizziness, and check in with your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Empagliflozin page
“Almost everything on this page can nudge blood sugar in someone taking empagliflozin (Jardiance) for type 2 diabetes, heart failure, or kidney protection, and two entries deserve genuine caution before anything else. Siberian cocklebur has caused severe low blood sugar in humans and should not be combined with any glucose-lowering medi…”

About Goji
What is Goji?
- General antioxidant support
- Eye health
- Immune support
- Anti-aging and well-being
- Blood sugar support
Goji berries are a nutritious fruit rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and plant polysaccharides, and they are safe for most people as a food. While they are popular for eye health, immune support, and general wellness, strong human evidence for most health claims is limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated goji supplements, especially if you take medications or are pregnant.
About Empagliflozin
What Is Empagliflozin Used For?
Brand name: Jardiance
Jardiance (empagliflozin) tablets are approved for several important uses in adults. It reduces the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization in adults with heart failure. It also slows the progression of chronic kidney disease by reducing the risk of serious kidney decline, end-stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death, and hospitalization. In adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease, Jardiance reduces the risk of cardiovascular death.
Jardiance is also used — alongside diet and exercise — to improve blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes in adults and children aged 10 and older. It is not recommended for blood sugar control in type 1 diabetes (it may raise the risk of a dangerous condition called diabetic ketoacidosis) or in type 2 diabetes patients with severely reduced kidney function.

Empagliflozin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Empagliflozin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Goji — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
