Goji + Insulin Glargine (rDNA)
Insulin Glargine (rDNA) brand name: Lantus.
Goji has a minor interaction with Insulin Glargine (rDNA). Theoretically, concomitant use of goji fruit polysaccharides or goji root bark with antidiabetes drugs might have additive effects.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Insulin Glargine (rDNA)
Insulin Glargine (rDNA) falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Goji interacts with.
Animal and in vitro research show that goji root bark and fruit polysaccharides might have hypoglycemic effects. However, clinical research has only shown that taking goji fruit polysaccharides with or without antidiabetes drugs modestly reduces postprandial glucose when compared with control, with no reports of hypoglycemia.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with goji and your Lantus. Goji berries (especially the concentrated polysaccharide extracts you find in supplements) may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of their own. Since Lantus is a long-acting insulin that already works to bring your glucose down, stacking the two together could, in theory, add up and nudge your numbers a little lower than expected.
The good news: this is a minor interaction, and the human studies we have only showed a modest drop in after-meal sugar, with no actual cases of low blood sugar reported. Eating goji as a food is very unlikely to matter. If you do start a concentrated goji supplement, just keep an eye out for hypoglycemia signs (shakiness, sweating, dizziness) and check with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
