Olaparib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Goji interacts with.

Theoretically, goji berry might inhibit CYP3A4 and reduce metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that goji berry juice inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP3A4 substrates. However, this has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for your cancer medication, olaparib (Lynparza). Your body clears this drug using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab tests suggest goji berry juice may slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in people, olaparib could build up a bit higher than expected, which might mean more of its usual side effects, things like nausea, fatigue, low blood counts, or a drop in appetite.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. The slowdown was only seen in a test tube, never confirmed in real patients, so it's theoretical. Still, with a cancer drug, I'd play it safe. Eating a few goji berries as food is unlikely to matter, but check with your oncologist or pharmacist before using concentrated goji supplements.

About Olaparib

What Is Olaparib Used For?

Brand name: Lynparza

Lynparza (olaparib) is used to treat adults with certain ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancers that carry BRCA or other DNA-repair gene mutations — both as a maintenance therapy after platinum-based chemotherapy (including in combination with bevacizumab for some patients) and for recurrent disease. It is also approved for HER2-negative breast cancer with a germline BRCA mutation, both in early high-risk disease (adjuvant setting) and in metastatic disease.

Lynparza is additionally used as maintenance therapy for adults with germline BRCA-mutated metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma whose disease has not progressed on first-line platinum-based chemotherapy, and for adults with certain gene-mutated metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer — either alone (after prior enzalutamide or abiraterone) or in combination with abiraterone and prednisone or prednisolone. All uses require testing for specific genetic mutations using an FDA-approved companion diagnostic before starting treatment.
