Osimertinib Mesylate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Goji interacts with.

Theoretically, goji berry might inhibit CYP3A4 and reduce metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that goji berry juice inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP3A4 substrates. However, this has not been reported in humans.

Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear osimertinib (Tagrisso). In lab studies, goji berry juice slowed that same enzyme down a bit. The concern is that if goji blocks CYP3A4, your body might break osimertinib down more slowly, letting it build up higher than expected. With more drug hanging around, you could see more of its usual side effects, things like diarrhea, mouth sores, dry or itchy skin, nail changes, or fatigue.

Here's the reassuring part: this is only a theoretical signal from test-tube research, and it has not actually been reported in people. Eating goji berries as a food is unlikely to cause trouble. Still, because cancer drugs deserve extra caution, check with your oncology team or pharmacist before using concentrated goji supplements.

About Osimertinib

What Is Osimertinib Used For?

Brand name: Tagrisso

Tagrisso is used to treat adults with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors have specific EGFR mutations — either an exon 19 deletion or an exon 21 L858R mutation — confirmed by an FDA-approved test. It is used in several settings: after surgery to reduce the risk of cancer returning (adjuvant therapy), for locally advanced stage III NSCLC that has not progressed after chemoradiation, and as a first-line treatment for locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC (including in combination with pemetrexed and platinum-based chemotherapy).

Tagrisso is also approved for adults with metastatic NSCLC that carries a specific resistance mutation called T790M, when the cancer has stopped responding to another EGFR-targeted therapy.
