Dextroamphetamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Grape interacts with.

Theoretically, grape seed extract may increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro evidence suggests that grape seed extract might inhibit CYP2D6 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for grape seed extract and your dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine, Xelstrym). Your body partly relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to break this stimulant down. In test-tube studies, concentrated grape seed extract appeared to slow that enzyme a bit. If that happened in real life, more of the medication could linger in your system, which might nudge up the usual stimulant effects like a faster heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or a reduced appetite.

The important part: this has only been seen in the lab, never reported in actual people, so the concern is theoretical. Eating grapes or drinking grape juice almost certainly won't matter. If you're thinking about a daily grape seed extract supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Dextroamphetamine Used For?

Brand name: Dexedrine

Dextroamphetamine treats two conditions: ADHD and narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness). It is available in multiple forms — tablets, extended-release capsules, oral solution, and a skin patch — and the approved age ranges vary by product.

Oral tablets (Zenzedi, generic) and oral solutions (Procentra, generic) are approved for ADHD in children as young as 3 years old and for narcolepsy. Extended-release capsules (Dexedrine, generic) are approved for ADHD in children ages 6 to 16 and for narcolepsy. Xelstrym, the transdermal patch, is approved only for ADHD — in adults and children ages 6 and older — and is not indicated for narcolepsy.
