These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Green Tea interacts with whole categories of medication. Ephedrine Sulfate, Hydroxyzine, Theophylline falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Green Tea in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
STIMULANT DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Ephedrine Sulfate, Hydroxyzine, Theophylline
Ephedrine Sulfate, Hydroxyzine, Theophylline falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Green Tea interacts with.
Green tea contains caffeine. Due to the central nervous system (CNS) stimulant effects of caffeine, concomitant use with stimulant drugs can increase the risk of adverse effects.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: green tea naturally contains caffeine, and so does your combination product. Two of its ingredients, ephedrine and theophylline, are themselves stimulants, so layering caffeine on top can add to that stimulating effect. This isn't a case of green tea blocking or speeding up how your body clears the medicine. It's more like piling more of the same kind of activity on board.
What that can feel like is a faster or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness, shakiness, anxiety, trouble sleeping, or a bump in blood pressure. Honestly, a cup or two of green tea is unlikely to cause much trouble for most folks, but concentrated green tea extracts or several caffeinated drinks a day are where it adds up. If you notice your heart racing or feel wired, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

THEOPHYLLINE
2 of 2Ephedrine Sulfate, Hydroxyzine, Theophylline also falls under THEOPHYLLINE.
Green tea contains caffeine. Large amounts of caffeine might inhibit theophylline metabolism.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the gist with this combo product: it contains theophylline, a medicine that's already a bit touchy because the helpful dose and the too-much dose sit close together. Green tea naturally contains caffeine, and caffeine is broken down by the same liver pathway as theophylline. Drinking large amounts could slow how fast your body clears the theophylline, letting it build up a little.
If levels creep too high, you might notice jitteriness, a racing or pounding heart, nausea, trouble sleeping, or feeling shaky. The ephedrine in this product can also be a stimulant, so the effects may stack. A cup or two of tea is unlikely to cause trouble, but concentrated green tea extracts or lots of tea are worth a conversation. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

About Green Tea
What is Green Tea?
- Antioxidant support
- Weight loss
- Heart health
- Mental alertness
- Cancer risk reduction
Green tea is a popular beverage rich in antioxidants called catechins, and drinking it in normal amounts is considered safe for most people. Concentrated green tea extracts are a different story—they may help modestly with weight or heart health for some, but high doses have been linked to rare liver problems. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before taking green tea supplements, especially if you have liver concerns or are pregnant.
