In vitro research and case reports suggest that green tea inhibits drug efflux by P-gp, potentially increasing serum levels of P-gp substrates. Case reports from the World Health Organization (WHO) adverse drug reaction database describe increased toxicity in patients taking green tea and certain P-gp substrates.

Here's the gist with green tea and Motegrity (prucalopride). Your body uses a little pump called P-glycoprotein to help move some medicines along and clear them out. Green tea, especially in concentrated extract form, may slow that pump down a bit. Since prucalopride is partly handled by this pump, the theory is that its levels could nudge up, which could mean more of its usual side effects like headache, nausea, belly cramps, or loose stools.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is based mostly on lab studies and a few scattered case reports, so it's fairly weak and not a sure thing. A normal cup or two of green tea is unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated supplements are where I'd be more careful. Check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them.

What Is Prucalopride Used For?

Brand names: Resotran, Resolor, Motegrity

Prucalopride tablets — sold under the brand name Motegrity and also available as generic prucalopride and prucalopride succinate — are indicated for the treatment of chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) in adults. CIC is ongoing constipation with no identified underlying cause.

This indication applies to all approved oral tablet forms of prucalopride. It is not approved for use in children; a study in pediatric patients was stopped early because the medication did not show effectiveness in that age group.
