Here's the concern with pairing Augtyro (repotrectinib) and green tea. This isn't about green tea changing how your body activates or clears the drug. Instead, it's about the liver. Repotrectinib, a targeted cancer therapy, can raise liver enzymes and stress the liver on its own. Concentrated green tea extract supplements (not your everyday cup of tea) have been tied to rare cases of liver injury too. Stack them and the worry is added strain on the liver.

Honestly, this is a theoretical, low-likelihood concern based on scattered case reports, so don't panic. But since your cancer team already watches your liver labs closely, mention any green tea capsules or extracts to them. A normal brewed cup is very unlikely to be the problem.

Green tea might increase the levels and adverse effects of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) substrates.
In vitro research and case reports suggest that green tea inhibits drug efflux by P-gp, potentially increasing serum levels of P-gp substrates. Case reports from the World Health Organization (WHO) adverse drug reaction database describe increased toxicity in patients taking green tea and certain P-gp substrates.

Here's the gist for your cancer medicine Augtyro (repotrectinib). This drug rides through your gut using a little pump called P-glycoprotein (P-gp), which helps move it in and out of cells. Green tea, mainly in concentrated extract or supplement form, may slow that pump down. The concern is that with the pump working less, a bit more repotrectinib could stay in your bloodstream than intended, which might nudge up side effects like dizziness, numbness or tingling, muscle weakness, fatigue, or an unsteady feeling.

I want to be honest: this is based mostly on lab studies and a few scattered case reports, so it's a possible concern, not a proven one. A cup or two of regular green tea is unlikely to be a big deal, but supplements are stronger. Please run it by your oncologist or pharmacist before adding green tea pills.

Green tea is unlikely to produce clinically significant changes in the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro and in vivo research suggests that green tea can inhibit intestinal CYP3A and induce hepatic CYP3A4 enzymes. However, this effect is unlikely to be clinically significant, as green tea does not appear to affect CYP3A4 activity in humans.

Good question about pairing green tea with your Augtyro (repotrectinib). This cancer medicine is handled by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and green tea has shown some effect on that enzyme in lab and animal studies. The concern would be a change in how much repotrectinib stays in your system, which could shift its effect or its side effects like dizziness, numbness or tingling, fatigue, or changes in how you feel your balance.

Here's the reassuring part: in actual people, green tea has not shown a meaningful effect on this enzyme. So a normal cup or two is very unlikely to cause a problem. Concentrated green tea extract pills are a different matter, so run those by your oncology team or pharmacist before starting them.
