Rimegepant falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Green Tea interacts with.

Green tea might increase the levels and adverse effects of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) substrates.
In vitro research and case reports suggest that green tea inhibits drug efflux by P-gp, potentially increasing serum levels of P-gp substrates. Case reports from the World Health Organization (WHO) adverse drug reaction database describe increased toxicity in patients taking green tea and certain P-gp substrates.

Here's the gist for Nurtec ODT (rimegepant): your body uses a kind of cellular bouncer called P-glycoprotein, or P-gp, to help shuttle this medication back out. Green tea may gently slow that bouncer down, which in theory could let a bit more rimegepant linger in your system. If levels nudge up, you might notice more of its usual side effects, mainly nausea and sometimes some stomach upset.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. The evidence here is thin, mostly lab studies and a few scattered case reports, not solid human trials. A regular cup or two of green tea is unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated green tea extract pills are the bigger question mark, so run those by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Rimegepant also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.

Green tea is unlikely to produce clinically significant changes in the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro and in vivo research suggests that green tea can inhibit intestinal CYP3A and induce hepatic CYP3A4 enzymes. However, this effect is unlikely to be clinically significant, as green tea does not appear to affect CYP3A4 activity in humans.

Here's the good news if you enjoy your daily cup of green tea: it's very unlikely to cause any real trouble with Nurtec ODT (rimegepant). Rimegepant is cleared from your body by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dishes, green tea seems to nudge this enzyme in a couple of directions, but in actual people it doesn't appear to meaningfully change how this enzyme works.

So in practice, drinking green tea shouldn't make rimegepant build up (which could mean more nausea or stomach upset) or wear off too soon. This is based on weak, mostly test-tube evidence, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. If you're taking concentrated green tea extract capsules rather than the beverage, just mention it to your pharmacist to be safe.
