Here's the gist with green tea and your trazodone: this isn't about one boosting or blocking the other. Instead, the worry is that both can occasionally be tough on the liver, so using them together might add up. Trazodone, on its own, rarely causes liver trouble, and brewing a cup or two of green tea is generally fine. The concern is really about concentrated green tea extract pills in high doses, which have been tied to rare liver injury.

I'll be honest, this is mostly theoretical and based on scattered case reports, so I don't want you to panic. Just be aware of signs like yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a green tea supplement.

Trazodone also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.

Green tea is unlikely to produce clinically significant changes in the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro and in vivo research suggests that green tea can inhibit intestinal CYP3A and induce hepatic CYP3A4 enzymes. However, this effect is unlikely to be clinically significant, as green tea does not appear to affect CYP3A4 activity in humans.

Here's the good news: your morning cup of green tea and your trazodone get along just fine for almost everyone. Trazodone is handled by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and in lab dishes green tea seems to nudge that enzyme around a little. But in actual people, that tiny effect basically washes out, so we don't expect green tea to change how much trazodone is in your system.

Translation: it's very unlikely you'd notice extra drowsiness, dizziness, or any drop in how well the medication treats your mood. This is based only on test-tube and animal research, not real patient problems, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. If you're using concentrated green tea extract pills rather than the beverage, just mention it to your pharmacist to be safe.
