Janumet pairs two diabetes medicines (metformin and sitagliptin) that both work to bring your blood sugar down. Hibiscus, on its own, also tends to nudge blood sugar a little lower. So when you sip a lot of strong hibiscus tea or take concentrated hibiscus supplements alongside Janumet, the two effects could stack up, and your sugar might dip lower than you'd like.

Honestly, this is mostly a theoretical concern based on how hibiscus behaves, not a proven, dramatic interaction. An occasional cup of tart hibiscus tea is unlikely to cause trouble. Still, it's smart to watch for low-blood-sugar signs like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy. If you want to use hibiscus regularly, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.
