Simvastatin falls under HMG-CoA REDUCTASE INHIBITORS ("Statins") — the group Inositol Nicotinate interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of inositol nicotinate and statins might increase the risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis.
Inositol nicotinate is metabolized to niacin in the body. Some case reports have raised concerns that niacin might increase the risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis when combined with statins However, a significantly increased risk of myopathy has not been demonstrated in clinical trials.

Here's the gist of pairing this 'no-flush' niacin product with simvastatin. Once it's in your body, inositol nicotinate slowly releases niacin, and there have been scattered case reports where niacin combined with a statin seemed to raise the odds of muscle problems. The big worry is myopathy (muscle aches, soreness, or weakness) and, very rarely, a serious muscle breakdown called rhabdomyolysis. Simvastatin already carries a small muscle-related risk on its own, so the concern is about stacking that risk a little higher.

Honestly, this is mostly theoretical. Large clinical trials haven't clearly shown a meaningful jump in muscle problems, so I wouldn't panic. Still, before you add this supplement, run it by your pharmacist or doctor, and let them know right away if you notice unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or dark urine.

About Simvastatin

What Is Simvastatin Used For?

Brand name: Zocor

Simvastatin tablets are used alongside a cholesterol-lowering diet to treat high LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), high triglycerides, and certain inherited cholesterol disorders, including heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH) in adults and children aged 10 and older, and homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH) in adults.

In adults who already have coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral vascular disease, or diabetes and are at high risk for heart events, simvastatin is also used to reduce the risk of death from heart disease, non-fatal heart attack, stroke, and the need for procedures to open blocked arteries. Zocor is one brand-name product containing simvastatin and carries these same indications.
