Mirtazapine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Ipriflavone interacts with.

Ipriflavone is thought to competitively inhibit cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2). Theoretically, concurrent use of ipriflavone and drugs metabolized by these enzymes might result in decreased drug elimination, increased serum levels, and potential toxicity. Some drugs metabolized by CYP1A2 include clozapine (Clozaril), cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril), fluvoxamine (Luvox), haloperidol (Haldol), imipramine (Tofranil), mexiletine (Mexitil), olanzapine (Zyprexa), Pentazocine (Talwin), propranolol (Inderal), tacrine (Cognex), theophylline (Slo-bid, Theo-Dur, others), zileuton (Zyflo), Zolmitriptan (Zomig), and others.

Here's the gist for mirtazapine (Remeron): one of the liver enzymes that helps clear it is CYP1A2, and ipriflavone may gently block that enzyme. In theory, that slower cleanup could let a little more mirtazapine build up in your system. Mirtazapine is an active drug (not a prodrug), so more of it usually means a stronger effect, possibly more drowsiness, dizziness, increased appetite, weight gain, or a groggy morning feeling.

I'll be honest though, this concern comes only from lab-style data, not real-world cases, so it's more of a theoretical heads-up than a proven problem. Mirtazapine also isn't only handled by CYP1A2, which softens the worry. Still, since ipriflavone's long-term safety isn't well established, run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Mirtazapine tablets, mirtazapine orally disintegrating tablets, Remeron, and RemeronsолTab are all indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults. Major depressive disorder involves a persistently low or sad mood most days, often accompanied by loss of interest, sleep changes, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating.

The effectiveness of mirtazapine tablets in maintaining a response for up to 40 weeks after an initial treatment period has also been demonstrated. Patients should be reassessed periodically to determine whether continued treatment is needed.
