Ropivacaine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Ipriflavone interacts with.

Ipriflavone is thought to competitively inhibit cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2). Theoretically, concurrent use of ipriflavone and drugs metabolized by these enzymes might result in decreased drug elimination, increased serum levels, and potential toxicity. Some drugs metabolized by CYP1A2 include clozapine (Clozaril), cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril), fluvoxamine (Luvox), haloperidol (Haldol), imipramine (Tofranil), mexiletine (Mexitil), olanzapine (Zyprexa), Pentazocine (Talwin), propranolol (Inderal), tacrine (Cognex), theophylline (Slo-bid, Theo-Dur, others), zileuton (Zyflo), Zolmitriptan (Zomig), and others.

Here's the thing about ropivacaine (Naropin): it's a local anesthetic, the kind your provider injects to numb an area or run through an epidural. Your liver partly clears it using an enzyme called CYP1A2. Ipriflavone is thought to slow that same enzyme down, so in theory ropivacaine could hang around longer and reach higher levels in your blood than expected.

If that happened with a big enough dose, the realistic worry is signs of too much local anesthetic, things like ringing in the ears, a numb or tingly mouth, dizziness, or in serious cases heart rhythm or breathing problems. That said, this caution comes only from lab data, not real patient reports, and ropivacaine is usually given as a one-time controlled dose by a professional. Still, let your anesthesia team or pharmacist know you take ipriflavone before any procedure.
