Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Methadone
Methadone falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Jackfruit interacts with.
Animal research shows that jackfruit seeds can cause sedation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: methadone already slows down your brain and nervous system, which is how it eases pain and calms opioid withdrawal. It can also cause drowsiness, slowed breathing, and a foggy feeling. The concern on file is that jackfruit seeds might add a little extra sedation on top of that, so the two together could leave you sleepier or more sluggish than usual.
I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. The sedation idea comes only from animal studies using jackfruit seeds, not real-world human reports, and it's rated as a theoretical, moderate concern. Eating jackfruit as a regular fruit is very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated seed supplements are the bigger unknown, so check with your pharmacist or doctor before using those alongside methadone.

These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. Each one covers Jackfruit or Methadone, not necessarily both, but if one is close to what you were about to ask it will usually go further than a database entry can:

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Methadone page
“If you take methadone, choose your supplements with genuine care. Of the 223 ingredients on this page, most either add to methadone's sedating effect or change how fast your body clears it, which can push its blood level up or down.”

About Jackfruit
What is Jackfruit?
- General nutrition
- Blood sugar support
- Digestive health (fiber)
- Antioxidant support
- Wound care (traditional, latex/leaves)
Jackfruit is a large tropical fruit that is nutritious and safe to eat as a food, offering fiber, vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants. While its leaves, seeds, and other parts are used in traditional medicine for things like blood sugar and digestion, strong human evidence for these supplement uses is limited. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated jackfruit products for a health condition.
About Methadone
What Is Methadone Used For?
Brand name: Dolophine
Methadone treats two main problems. Some products are used for severe, persistent pain that needs daily, around-the-clock opioid treatment when other options are not adequate. Some products are used for opioid addiction (heroin or other morphine-like drugs), as detoxification or as maintenance treatment along with social and medical services.
Not every product is approved for every use. Methadone tablets, oral solution and oral concentrate (Intensol) list both pain and opioid addiction. Diskets, Methadose Dispersible tablets and the Methadose and Methadone Hydrocloride oral concentrates are labeled only for opioid addiction. Methadone injection is for severe pain, and for short-term treatment of opioid dependence in people who cannot take medicine by mouth, such as hospitalized patients. It is not approved for outpatient opioid dependence treatment. Methadone is not meant to be used as an as-needed pain reliever.
