Here's the simple version. Trimethadione (Tridione) is a seizure medicine that can already make you feel drowsy, foggy, or tired. The concern on file is that jackfruit seeds may have a mild calming, sleepy effect of their own. Stack the two together and you could feel more sedated than usual, maybe extra sleepiness, slowed thinking, or dizziness.

I want to be honest about how solid this is though. This warning comes only from animal studies, not from people, so it's really more theoretical than proven. And eating jackfruit as a regular fruit is very unlikely to cause a problem. The bigger question would be concentrated jackfruit seed supplements. If you're considering one, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Trimethadione Used For?

Brand name: Tridione

  • Trimethadione is used to control absence seizures (petit mal; a type of seizure in which there is a very short loss of awareness during which the person may stare straight ahead or blink his eyes and does not respond to others) when other medications will not work. Trimethadione is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by reducing abnormal electrical activity in the brain.
