Treprostinil (Inh) falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Jackfruit interacts with.

Theoretically, jackfruit latex might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Jackfruit latex, which is the sap from jackfruit bark, contains chemicals that might increase the risk of bleeding. In vitro research shows that jackfruit latex contains a glycoprotein constituent that prolongs the activated partial thrombin time (aPTT) and reduces the activity of blood coagulation factors XIa and alpha-XIIa. Jackfruit latex also contains a protease constituent that has been shown to have fibrinolytic activity in vitro. Other parts of jackfruit, including the fruit and leaves, have not been shown to contain chemicals with fibrinolytic and anticoagulant activity.

Here's the situation with inhaled treprostinil (Tyvaso). Besides opening up the blood vessels in your lungs, this medicine also makes your platelets a little less sticky, so it has a mild blood-thinning effect of its own. The concern on file is that jackfruit latex (the sticky sap from the bark, not the fruit you eat) contains compounds that may also slow clotting. Stack the two together and, in theory, you could bruise or bleed a bit more easily.

I want to keep this in perspective. This warning comes only from lab-dish research on jackfruit latex, not from studies in people, and eating jackfruit as a normal food has not shown this effect. So enjoy the fruit without worry. Just avoid concentrated jackfruit latex products, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting any of them.

What Is Treprostinil Oral Inhalation Used For?

Brand name: Tyvaso

Treprostinil oral inhalation is used to treat two serious lung conditions that raise pressure in the blood vessels of the lungs. It helps improve how much physical activity you can do.

Tyvaso inhalation solution and Tyvaso DPI are both indicated to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH; WHO Group 1) and pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD; WHO Group 3). Clinical studies establishing effectiveness in PAH primarily included patients with moderate symptoms (NYHA Class III) whose PAH was idiopathic, heritable, or related to connective tissue disease. Studies in PH-ILD primarily included patients with idiopathic interstitial pneumonia, combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema, or connective tissue disease-related lung disease.
