Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Amitriptyline
Amitriptyline falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Jackfruit interacts with.
Animal research shows that jackfruit seeds can cause sedation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: amitriptyline already tends to make people drowsy. That sleepy feeling is actually one of the reasons it's sometimes taken at bedtime. The concern here is additive sedation, meaning that if jackfruit also nudges you toward drowsiness, the two together could leave you feeling more groggy, foggy, or unsteady than usual.
I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It comes from animal studies on jackfruit seeds, not from people, so it's largely theoretical. Eating jackfruit as a normal food is very unlikely to cause a problem. Concentrated seed extracts or supplements are the bigger question mark. If you use those, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor and don't stop your amitriptyline on your own.

“Amitriptyline (Elavil), an older antidepressant now often prescribed for nerve pain, migraines, and sleep, is one of the drugs I genuinely want patients to be careful with, and 17 of the 296 supplement and herbal ingredients on this list carry a major rating. Most of the serious ones deepen the drowsiness amitriptyline already causes,…”

About Jackfruit
What is Jackfruit?
- General nutrition
- Blood sugar support
- Digestive health (fiber)
- Antioxidant support
- Wound care (traditional, latex/leaves)
Jackfruit is a large tropical fruit that is nutritious and safe to eat as a food, offering fiber, vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants. While its leaves, seeds, and other parts are used in traditional medicine for things like blood sugar and digestion, strong human evidence for these supplement uses is limited. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated jackfruit products for a health condition.

Amitriptyline Is Linked to Lower Levels of 3 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Amitriptyline as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Jackfruit — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
