Animal research shows that jambolan seed and bark extracts can lower blood glucose levels. Theoretically, jambolan might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs. This might increase the risk of hypoglycemia in some patients. Monitor blood glucose levels closely.

Here's the simple version: jambolan may gently nudge your blood sugar lower on its own, and acarbose (Precose) is already working to do that same job by slowing how fast your meals turn into sugar. Put them together and those effects could add up, so your sugar might dip lower than you expect.

One honest note: this concern comes mostly from animal and lab studies, not solid human trials, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Eating the fruit as food is unlikely to do much. Concentrated jambolan supplements are the bigger question mark. If you'd like to try one, keep an eye out for low-sugar signs like shakiness, sweating, or feeling lightheaded, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting.

Acarbose tablets are used to help control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. They are always used together with a proper diet and regular exercise — not as a replacement for them.

Acarbose can be used on its own or combined with other diabetes medicines such as sulfonylureas, insulin, or metformin to get better blood sugar control.
